If your first thought after seeing the picture above was “oh those things, I’ve seen them before but never been tempted to buy one” then trust me you’re not alone. My roommate and I both had the exact same reaction.
Cherry Blossoms are made up of a maraschino cherry, syrup, chocolate, coconut, and peanuts. Yup, you heard me – cherry and coconut! Um, can you say dream combo??? Also, apparently these were first manufactured in the 1890s! Talk about a classic treat.
To start, the retro packaging is kind of cool but it was the thick milk chocolate shell that really won me over. It was flavourful, sweet and textured. I expected to bite into this thing and to have cherry syrup explode everywhere but that wasn’t the case at all. Instead, the middle had a medium sized cherry with the littlest bit of syrup (aka the right amount in my opinion).
The funny thing about these chocolates is that if Moe had never sent me one I would never had been tempted to try it. There’s just something so underwhelming about them. And so, if I could offer up one piece of advice it would be don’t judge this book by its cover.
Enjoy the sweet stuff,
